"This is only goodbye for now," second-generation owner Shaun Mehtani wrote on Facebook. "Our lease is coming to an end, and rather than renew, I look toward the future with a new venture or concept. Please join us this next month and let us say goodbye with gratitude."
The Mehtani family has been a prominent presence in Morristown since 1995, when matriarch Sneh Mehtani opened their first local restaurant, Moghul.

Sneh’s journey in the restaurant industry began in 1983 with the opening of The Moghul Room at New York City’s Pennsylvania Hotel. After their lease expired in 1995, she and her husband, Satish, relocated to Edison, where they expanded their business. In 1990, the couple saw the potential in Edison—a town with few Indian immigrants at the time—and made it the base for their growing restaurant business.
Over the years, the Mehtani Restaurant Group became renowned not only for its authentic Indian cuisine but also for its innovative Asian offerings, trendsetting cocktails and elegant banquet hall.
In 2007, Shaun Mehtani, their son, continued the family legacy with the opening of Mehndi, Ming II, and SM23 at the Hyatt Headquarters Plaza in Morristown.
"The entire Morristown 'family' that makes up the Mehtani Restaurant Group wishes to thank the community for allowing us to serve 30 years of outstanding Indian cuisine and hospitality here," Shaun added.
