Barnes And Noble Returning To Popular Morris County Location

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — It looks like it's not the end for Ledgewood's Barnes & Noble after all.

In August 2020, the Barnes & Noble bookstore in Ledgewood shuttered its doors to make way for a brand-new shopping center, The Shops at Ledgewood Commons.

At the time, the bookstore decided not to sign on to reopen its site when The Shops at Ledgewood Commons was finished, instead announcing on social media that they were going to be closing down for good.

However, that decision has been rethought because company officials recently announced that the return of a Barnes & Noble bookstore to Ledgewood should be complete by the end of January.

The new storefront will be located at 461 State Route 10, Building B300, situated between the DSW and Ulta Beauty.

"Thank you for all your excitement with the news of our reopening. We will keep you up to date on all information… we promise," store officials said.

An official grand opening date has not yet been announced.

"We are excited to be returning to this market and aiming to open our doors in mid-January 2024. It is an area that has always done well for us, and we are thrilled to be able to come back into the community with our beautiful, newly designed bookstore," a company spokesperson told Patch.

The plan to reopen a store in the township comes nearly three years after the company closed its previous location in Ledgewood, which it had previously occupied for 26 years.

According to Jeffery Realty, the new storefront will occupy 13,875 square feet, which is slightly bigger than the previous location.

Barnes & Noble said in a previous announcement that the company is going through a growth spurt. In 2023, the company opened more new bookstores in a single year than it had in the whole decade from 2009 to 2019.

The bookshop expects to open over 30 new locations in 2023 and over 50 in 2024.
