Code Blue Alert Issued As Temps Drop In Morris County
A code blue will be in effect through Tuesday in Morris County.
MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — A Code Blue Weather Emergency is in effect for Morris County through Tuesday morning as the National Weather Service warns of cold temperatures, officials said.
Although the weather in New Jersey is expected to warm up as the week passes, temperatures are expected to be below freezing at the start of the week. Temperatures are predicted to drop into the mid-30s overnight, according to the National Weather Service.
In New Jersey, Code Blues are issued when temperatures drop below freezing and conditions endanger the homeless. According to officials, during a Code Blue, a network of institutions throughout New Jersey supports people in securing shelter.

During such times, the Morris County Office of Emergency Management will routinely launch and announce a Code Blue Alert, allowing officials to set up temporary warming centers for those in need.
The warming stations identified include a variety of public libraries, senior centers, civic and community centers, school buildings, houses of worship, firehouses and first aid squad buildings.

Overnight accommodations are not always available at warming stations.
"Stay safe and please check on friends and neighbors who may be in need," the Morristown Department of Public Safety said.
