MORRISTOWN, NJ — Election season is in full swing, and Morristown's candidates are getting ready to debate. Virtual forums for Town Council candidates will be held this month, co-hosted by the League of Women Voters of the Morristown Area.

The virtual council debate will take place at 7:45 p.m. on Oct. 16. The public may submit questions here.

A nonpartisan coalition will select a pool of topics from the submitted questions.

  • Questions must follow the League policy of being issue-related and relevant to the position being sought.
  • Questions may be addressed to a particular candidate, but all candidates will have the opportunity to reply.
  • Questions cannot be abusive, personal, or irrelevant

The Morristown Council will witness a change in this year's election cycle, as Councilman Stefan Armington has decided not to run for re-election to a fourth term in the Third Ward. Morristown Council President Sandi Mayer was also defeated in the primary election for the nomination to represent the Fourth Ward by her opponent, Christopher Russo.

Ward 1:

Ward 3:

Ward 4:

  • Bruce Meringolo
  • Christopher Russo

The planned debate will feature the two candidates seeking one open seat in the Fourth Ward on the Morristown Council, Meringolo and Russo.

New Jersey's general election will be held on Nov. 7.
