Flood Mitigation Committee Founder Honored By Morris Officials

MORRISTOWN, N.J.– The founding member of the Flood Mitigation Committee was honored by county officials last week.

Laura Szwak founded the FMC in 2012.

The FMC is a county program designed to purchase homes in flood prone areas, according to Morris County Communications and Digital Media Manager Larry Ragonese.

"The goal is to get families out of harm's way, return the land to open space, and reduce the calls to first responders for rescues," he said.
