Gannon Beats Sierchio In GOP Primary For Morris Sheriff

Republican nominee will oppose Democrat Mark Dombrowski in November General Election.

MORRISTOWN, N.J. – The hotly-contested battle for the Republican nomination of Morris County’s next sheriff is over, and James Gannon came out on top.

Gannon and John Sierchio were the two Republican candidates on Tuesday’s Primary Election ballot, while Mark Dombrowski was the sole Democrat on the ballot.

Gannon received 29,215 votes, while Sierchio received 15,733 votes. The winner will take on Dombrowski, who received 24,145 votes, in the November General Election.

The November winner will succeed Sheriff Ed Rochford, who’s been at the helm for more than 20 years. Rochford announced his retirement earlier this year.
