George Washington Admits Selling Cocaine, Sentenced To 8 Years: Prosecutor

Morristown drug distributor one of 25 arrested in Morris County in March.

MORRISTOWN, N.J. – A Morristown man involved in a multi-town drug bust earlier this year has pleaded guilty to selling cocaine, Morris County Prosecutor Fredric Knapp said.

George Washington, 51, pleaded guilty to third-degree possession with intent to distribute cocaine and second degree conspiracy to distribute controlled dangerous substances. Under the plea agreement, Knapp said, Washington also forfeited $8,330 and two motor vehicles. He was sentenced to eight years in prison and must serve 42 months before becoming eligible for parole.

Washington was one of 25 arrested in March 2016 after a months-long investigation that included members of his family and other drug dealers and users around Morris County, Knapp said.

During the arrests authorities seized 1,400 folds of heroin; 55 grams of cocaine; $33,500 in cash, bullets, and various packaging and drug distribution material along with 11 vehicles, Knapp said.

Washington is the first of the group to be convicted and sentenced.
