Arrest Made In Soldier Stolen From Morristown Christmas Display
It wasn't the Grinch, but Morristown Police did make an arrest in the theft of a toy soldier stolen from the Green.
MORRISTOWN, NJ — It looks like something right out of "How The Grinch Stole Christmas": A giant toy soldier statue was stolen from the Christmas display at the Morristown Green.
Thomas Carman, 25 of Pompton Lakes, turned himself in to Morristown police Friday morning, public safety director Michael Corcoran said. Carman was charged with third degree theft of property, and will have a court date in January.
The six-foot tall toy soldier was taken from the Green around 1 a.m. on Dec. 9. Police say Carman was caught on camera yanking the statue off its base and walking away with it.

Carman returned the statue safely, Corcoran said.
“The Grinch is certainly stealing the holiday spirit this year,” Mayor Timothy Dougherty said in a press release asking for the statues return. “And he’s dressed in a flannel shirt instead of a Santa costume.”
