Honoring Our Veterans: Morristown Introduces 'Mo-Town Heroes' Program
Banners will be placed throughout town on Memorial Day and Veterans Day, honoring local veterans and service members.
MORRISTOWN, NJ — A new initiative in Morristown will honor local military veterans and service members, with banners adorning South Street on Veterans Day and Memorial Day.
The town is partnering with American Legion Post 59, Morristown Rotary International, the Morristown chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Morristown Partnership to launch the "Mo-Town Heroes" program.
Veterans and current service members who live in Morristown, as well as the families of military veterans both living and deceased, may submit an application. The program will begin this autumn for Veterans Day.

Banners displaying the names, service branches, and photos of veterans will be showcased in town annually along South Street twice a year: During the month of November for Veterans Day, and during the month of May for Memorial Day.
The banners will be created for a donation of $200, with proceeds going to American Legion Post 59. Those who are unable to make a financial commitment may be eligible to receive a sponsorship.

Applications for banners will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. The deadline to apply for Veterans’ Day 2024 is August 15. The deadline for Memorial Day 2025 will be March 15, 2025.
