'JaviStrong' Fundraiser Set In Memory Of Morristown High Alumni
Event to benefit family and future scholarships.

MORRISTOWN, N.J. – Javi Avelar was a beloved member of the Morristown community, and even after his tragic death, his memory lives on.
The 21-year-old died last fall after a long battle with colon cancer, but now, eight months later, the community is banding together to help his family.
The first-ever JaviStrong Fundraiser has been organized to help the Avelar family with medical bills. Half the proceeds will go to the family, while the other half will go to a scholarship fund in Javi’s name run by the Cornerstone Family Programs and the Morristown Neighborhood House. The scholarship goes to a first-generation immigrant student.
