Lifelong Morristown Resident, Firefighter, Navy Veteran Dies at 89
William Dunlap was part three championship VFW Color Guard teams.

William Dunlap spent much of his life giving back and protecting others.
The lifelong Morristown resident died recently at the age of 89.
Born in Morristown in 1926, Dunlap served in the United States Navy until he was honorably discharged in 1946. He was later employed by Rowe Manufacturing of Whippany for 39 years.

Dunlap was a member of the Humane Engine Company of Morristown for 64 years and a member of the VFW Post 5351 in Whippany where he rose to the rank of Commander. He was also a member of the VFW Color Guard for 40 years and part of the teams that won three National Titles. Dunlap also served as an usher at Assumption Church in Morristown for more than 60 years.
Dunlap is predeceased by his late wife, Claire, who died in 1991. The couple was married 46 years. He is survived by a son, three grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
