Longtime Morristown Coffee Shop SmartWorld Coffee Shuts Down
SmartWorld Coffee has officially closed its doors after more than a decade on South Street in Morristown.

MORRISTOWN, NJ — A coffee shop with a longtime presence in the heart of Morristown has said its final goodbye.
SmartWorld Coffee, located at 74 South Street, brewed its final cup, closing permanently earlier this week after 18 years of serving the community.
A note taped to the shop's door confirmed the news, thanking the Morristown community for their support and love over the last decade. "It is with bittersweet news that SmartWorld Coffee has come to the end of its era, and we want to say goodbye to the Morristown Community," the letter said.

SmartWorld Coffee, which also has a location in Denville, was founded by David Walters and his wife Stephanie Meehan in 2006 with the goal of offering a variety of sustainably harvested, small-batch custom roasted coffees.
"Our customers have turned into friends and familiar faces, and our service was not just selling coffee; it was a way for us to dig our roots into this community to make an impact on every single one of you, one cup of coffee at a time," the letter said.

In addition to their selection of brewed coffee, espresso drinks, and cold-brewed/nitro-infused iced coffees, SmartWorld Coffee also baked fresh daily, offering a variety of croissants, muffins, scones, gluten-free items and fruit smoothies.
The reason for the closure was not immediately disclosed, but the SmartWorld Coffee team hinted that their 74 South Street storefront might be brewing coffee again in the near future.
"Although it is bittersweet, we feel we have become a staple location for you to grab your coffee and food. We want to fully express our excitement and endorsement to who and what's to come to Morristown 'coffee culture' taking our place," the letter added.
In a social media post, real estate professionals Jesse Mundt and Sally Campuzano announced they are "Morristown’s newest coffee shop owners" following their official purchase of a property that has been "deeply rooted in Morristown’s community" for the past 18 years.
"We are grateful for the trust in us and for all parties that made this happen," Mundt said.
While the couple did not specify their plans for the South Street space, they mentioned plans to modernize the shop, enhance its social media presence, improve the menu, increase community involvement, and overall provide a better experience for the community.
"We are beyond excited for this new venture and all of the challenges that’ll come with it, but we cannot wait for what’s to come," Mundt said.
