It’s not every day a 220-pound black bear scampers through downtown Morristown, meanders through the historic Green and scurries up a tree to take a nap, drawing the attention of thousands in a single afternoon.
But that’s exactly what happened on a picture-perfect October Monday, captivating an audience – and dozens of first responders – for nearly four hours.

The black bear was eventually tranquilized, lowered to safety, and taken back to his home in the woods.
