Man Admits To Kidnapping, Sexual Assault At Morris County School
Jayshawn E. Moore, of Jersey City, pleaded guilty to kidnapping and sexually assaulting a student at Fairleigh Dickson University.
MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — A Jersey City man pleaded guilty to first-degree kidnapping and first-degree aggravated sexual assault in connection with an incident at the Fairleigh Dickinson University campus in Florham Park.
According to the Morris County Prosecutor's Office, Jayshawn E. Moore pleaded guilty on Oct. 25 before state Superior Court Judge Stephen Taylor.
Moore admitted that on April 9, he forced a woman into a dorm room on campus. Once inside the room, he allegedly threatened the victim verbally and with a knife and assaulted her physically and sexually for several hours.

The attack is considered an act of domestic violence, as Moore had no affiliation with the school but was known to the victim, prosecutors said.
Moore was arrested in Elizabeth on April 11. After his arrest, he was taken to the Morris County Correctional Facility.

The minimum sentence that can be imposed for kidnapping is 15 years, and the minimum sentence for aggravated sexual assault is 10 years.
According to the Prosecutor's Office, Moore is scheduled to be sentenced on Dec. 15.
