MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — NJ Transit's Morris and Essex line rail service was delayed earlier this afternoon due to police activity in Dover.

NJ Transit reported that train #6648, the 3:24 p.m. arrival into Penn Station in New York, is up to 20 minutes late due to police presence in Dover, and train #426, the 3:30 p.m. arrival into Hoboken, is also up to 20 minutes late.

It's not clear when service will resume to normal.

According to the Dover Police Department, at approximately 2 p.m., officers were called to the Dover Train Station for reports of a man jumping up and down on the train tracks, attempting to fight people as they walked toward the platform.

Police stated that they notified NJ Transit of the event to ensure that no pedestrians were hit by a train.

The man, who was not identified by police, was not issued any summonses, police officer Emmanuel Padilla said.
