MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — A local apparel brand has launched a campaign to assist the Texas flood victims.

Patch Therapy, a Morris County-based apparel company, has created custom sweatshirts to honor and support victims of the vicious flooding that devastated Texas this month.

The custom sweatshirts feature green ribbon patches on each shoulder (the color of both Texas relief and mental health awareness), and are meant to be worn as “a symbol of remembrance, resilience, and care.”

Patch Therapy’s founder, Erica Derector, personally donated 100 sweatshirts to spread the message and started a $1 campaign, of which all proceeds will be donated to Texas flood relief.

Derector founded Patch Therapy to raise awareness for mental health, something she struggled with as a child.

“I started Patch Therapy because I have always wanted a way to give back," Derector said. "I've always wanted to create something that builds connection and helps with self-expression. For Texas, it might be a small reminder for them, or a reminder that their loved one is still seen and remembered through the colors, the symbols, and the patches that reflect their favorite sports, camp activities, and beautiful individuality.”

Joining Derector on her mission is a group of local girls, similar in age to those of Texas’ Camp Mystic, who will design and press each sweatshirt themselves.

“This isn’t just about clothing,” said Derector. “It’s about giving people, who have lost everything, including family members, something to hold onto—something that reminds them they are supported, and never alone.”
