Morris County Man Who Shared 900 Child Porn Files On Reddit Sentenced

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — A Morris County man was sentenced to seven years in New Jersey State Prison for sharing hundreds of files of child sexual abuse material on Reddit, announced Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll on Thursday.

Richard Ferrarie-Loffredo, 38, of Dover will be under Parole Supervision for life for endangering the welfare of a child - distribution of child sexual abuse material.

Morris County Detectives and Dover Police began their investigation from a tip provided by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about media files depicting the sexual exploitation and abuse of minors.

The media files were uploaded to Reddit, an internet-based social platform, by Ferrarie-Loffredo, said Carroll.

An investigation of electronic devices found that he shared between 800 and 900 items of child sexual abuse material, and was in possession of around 1,400 items of child sexual abuse material.

On Friday, Judge Ralph Amirata also determined Ferrarie-Loffredo to be "repetitive and compulsive," which means he was sentenced under the New Jersey Sex Offender Act.

He will be required to undergo specialized sex offender treatment during his time in prison at the Adult Diagnostic Treatement Center in Avenel.

Ferrarie-Loffredo will continue to be subject to Megan's Law even after he is out of prison. Megan's Law requires the release of relevant information to protect the public from sexually violent offenders.
