Morris Schools Superintendent To Hold Virtual Town Hall
The event will give the public a chance to ask questions and comment on the return to school plan
MORRISTOWN, NJ—Morris Schools Superintendent Mackey Pendergrast announced he will hold a virtual town hall on Thursday, Aug. 27 at 6:30 p.m., days after confirming the district will adhere to its reopening plan.
"The purpose of the town hall is to give the community members an opportunity to ask questions and contribute to an ongoing dialogue," a statement issued by Pendergrast said.
The superintendent said Monday that Morris schools will begin the academic year as planned, and vented frustration after a summer that saw reopening requirements in a constant state of uncertainty.

"In New Jersey, every district was left to fend for themselves," Pendergrast said at Monday's school board meeting. "There wasn't a regional plan, there wasn't a state plan."
The Morris School District's reopening blueprint involves 5 days of 4-hour instruction for elementary students and a 50/50 hybrid model for middle and high school students. About 20 percent of the district's 5,000 students elected to attend all-remote school.

The town hall will focus on four areas: health protocols, instructional models and schedules for grades K-12, social-emotional learning, and 'what if?' scenarios. You can register here.
