Shade Tree Garage’s owner, John O’Connor, will honor his business’ mission statement Friday and test it with his 1967 Pontiac GTO convertible.

Joined by his wife, O’Connor will be embarking on a tour of the Lincoln Highway, the first paved transcontinental road. They will meet up with other East Coast participants in Times Square before the 10-day drive along the historic route.

They will join drivers from the West Coast when they arrive in Kearny, Nebraska on June 30. A total of 270 people and 140 vehicles will be participating in the anniversary event.

“My wife and I are very excited to be a part of this event celebrating the anniversary of the birth of our nation’s first transcontinental roadway,” said O’Connor. “We’ll have the opportunity to see so many wonderful areas in this country and we’re certain to make a lot of new friends in the process.”
