Morristown Councilwoman Charged With Simple Assault

The councilwoman is accused of pushing another woman to the ground in a Walmart parking lot.

MORRISTOWN, NJ — A Morristown councilwoman was charged with simple assault following a Walmart parking lot incident, Hanover police said.

Hiliari Davis-Mason, 42, was mailed a complaint for simple assault following the Nov. 9 altercation, police said. Davis-Mason is accused of approaching another woman in the parking lot, yelling at her and pushing her down, causing the woman to injure her hand.

Police say the charges are based on security camera footage.

Davis-Mason, who only uses the last name Davis on the council, did not respond to Patch's request for comment. Mayor Tim Dougherty and Council President Toshiba Foster have also not responded to requests for comment.
