Morristown Man Who Broke Child's Nose In Attempted Car Burglary Jailed

Tezmar Caldwell, 40, was found guilty on Jan. 13 of second-degree Burglary, third-degree Terroristic Threat, and Simple Assault.

MORRISTOWN, NJ — A 40-year-old Morristown man was sentenced on Friday to a total of eight years in New Jersey State Prison for a burglary committed in Morristown on Feb. 11.

Prosecutors said Tezmar Caldwell broke into a parked car on Flagler Street in Morristown where he awoke a sleeping child. Caldwell fought with the child who was trying to get Caldwell out of the car, authorities said.

Caldwell hit the juvenile in the face, broke his nose, and then fled the area, shouting threats at the child as he did so, according to officials. Police were able to identify Caldwell on surveillance footage and he was arrested on Feb. 14.

Caldwell was also charged with and convicted of Simple Assault a third-degree terroristic threat. He was sentenced to a concurrent term of six months for the simple assault, and to a concurrent term of five years imprisonment for the terroristic threat.
