Morristown, Red Cross Teaming Up To Hand Out, Install Free Smoke Alarms

Saturday event to help cut down risk of fire-related injuries and deaths.

Morristown residents may get some much-needed in-home assistance this

Saturday, as the town of Morristown, Morristown Fire Department, Morristown Office of Emergency Management and Red Cross team up to hand out free smoke detectors Saturday, Nov. 7.

The Saturday event will mark the first in a series of home fire preparedness canvassing events in Morristown, the town announced. Volunteers will be going door-to-door offering free smoke alarm installation in homes that need them.

Volunteers, who will be identifiable by their uniforms and badges, will also be distributing fire safety information and talking to families about what they can do now to be prepared should a fire break out in their home.
