Morristown to Increase Code Patrol on South Street Alleyway

Move is to address resident and town concerns.

Joe Costa, Morristown director of code enforcement, recently stopped by the Morristown Partnership to talk about possible violations with the owners and businesses on South Street whose establishments border the alleyway.

“I’ve had about four pictures emailed to me (showing certain violations) and will print it out and present that to them,” he told Morristown town council on Tuesday night.

He added that he will also inform the businesses that effective June 21, “we will have three additional part-time inspectors who will spend on average about 28 hours a week among the three combined,” said Costa.

“(They will be) patrolling the business district between the hours of Friday evening through Monday morning at different sets of time, especially with an eye toward that alleyway as well as some other infractions that come up quite often,” he said, adding that he hopes that directly addresses concerns that residents brought up earlier at the town council meeting.
