MORRISTOWN, NJ — Morristown just got a little sweeter.

A celebrated pastry chef has officially opened a brand-new artisan bakery in downtown Morristown, bringing a selection of cookies, cakes, sandwiches and more to 22 Schuyler Place.

Kirshenbaum Baking Co., which began as an online cookie company during the pandemic and soon developed into a full-service bakery with a flagship site in Westfield, has now expanded to Morristown.

The new Morristown location will feature the same artisanal quality that Union County guests have enjoyed since 2022, offering a wide range of treats, including cookies, pies, cakes and croissants.

The bakery will also serve popular breakfast and lunch items, such as their breakfast sandwich on Parker House rolls and various pressed paninis on house-baked bread.

Items can be pre-ordered for pickup or delivery or enjoyed in the café alongside a selection of artisan coffee drinks from the Coffee and Espresso Bar. Catering for special events, including birthdays, weddings and corporate gatherings, will be available in Morristown, just as it is at their Westfield location.

The bakery-café, owned by executive chef Uyen Kirshenbaum and her restaurateur husband Jeff, is now operating in a retail space at the Schuyler Lofts complex on Schuyler Place.

The couple first announced the news in a social media post back in November.

Uyen, born in Vietnam and raised in California, moved to France to pursue her culinary passions at the Lenôtre Culinary Arts School. She made history as the first female pastry chef at the Michelin-starred Restaurant Guy Savoy in Las Vegas.

Jeff, originally from Fanwood, worked on Wall Street before transitioning to the restaurant industry in Los Angeles. During the pandemic, they started selling cookies online from their California home before deciding to relocate to the East Coast.

The bakery now offers a variety of gluten- and dairy-free cookie options, including Jeff’s Cookie collection, which is entirely gluten- and dairy-free to accommodate Jeff's dietary needs. Featured items include salted chocolate chip cookies, double chocolate cookies (gluten-free and dairy-free), rocky road (gluten-free and dairy-free), lemon poppy and snickerdoodle.

The 1,300-square-foot Morristown space accommodates 25 customers with cozy corners, a long velvet green banquette, and an inviting sofa area with nested coffee tables and a ceiling fan, the Kirshenbaum Baking Co. team said.

The bakery is open Tuesday through Thursday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is closed on Monday.
