MORRISTOWN, NJ — Sanofi, a French healthcare company, is preparing its nearly 2,000 employees for a facility relocation to Morristown next winter, according to a Sanofi spokesperson.

All 1,900 Sanofi staff members will relocate from the company's flagship location, currently in Bridgewater, to two locations in Morristown. Sanofi is best known for the prescription sleeping pill Ambien and Admelog, a fast-acting mealtime insulin.

Sanofi currently occupies 675K square feet in Bridgewater. With the new move, Sanofi will lease approximately 260K square feet in Morristown, with an additional 17K square feet for Consumer Healthcare, Sanofi told Patch.

The company has not yet disclosed its investment in the new plant.

The healthcare company will occupy the majority of the second M Station building, a cutting-edge structure constructed by SJP Properties in collaboration with Scotto Properties to bridge the gap between Morristown's train station and the Morristown Green.

The transition will occur in two stages, one in the fourth quarter of 2024 and the other in the first quarter of 2025, according to a statement from a Sanofi spokesperson.

Sanofi, like its new Paris headquarters, is positioning its upcoming Morristown office as a response to the new ways of working that emerged during the COVID-19 pandemic.

As a result, the Morristown plant is being designed to be more collaborative and digitally connected than its Bridgewater counterpart.

"Sanofi has long been an integral part of New Jersey’s vibrant life sciences industry and our continued investment with these two new, modernized workspaces reaffirms our commitment to the state. The move is part of a global program to modernize Sanofi workspaces around the world," Sanofi told Patch.

The healthcare company will be the third major corporation to relocate to Morristown, following Deloitte and Valley National Bank, which plans to relocate its headquarters to a six-story building on Speedwell Avenue this spring.

These new initiatives, according to officials, are strengthening Morristown's position as one of the area's most sought-after office markets by providing industry-leading businesses and their workforces with access to a transit-oriented, amenity-rich community that is bustling with activity.

M Station, according to officials, will generate more than $1 million annually for the town — 4.5 times the current revenue — with minimum payments rising over a 30-year period. The project will contribute $2.5 million to Morristown's affordable housing trust fund.
