$73M NJDOT I-80 Refurbishment Starts Next Phase, Expect Lane Closures

The New Jersey Department of Transportation's $73 million rebuilding of four miles of Interstate 80 in Parsippany is moving toward its next phase, bringing with it closed lanes and traffic shifts, NJ.com reported.

Starting Friday night, an NJDOT contractor will close I-80 westbound local lanes from east of South Beverwyck Road to just west of Interstate 287, the article said. Vehicles will use a temporary crossover ramp to obtain access to the express lanes.

From 10 p.m. Friday to 8 p.m. Sunday, one lane will be shut down on the local and express sides to allow the contractor to put the new configurations in place. When the changes are ready, rebuilding begins, closing the local lanes for about two months, the article continued.

The next phases of the NJDOT I-80 project will involve rebuilding westbound express lanes and all eastbound lanes. Motorists throughout the region can expect more traffic pattern changes and lane closures.
