Rabbinical College Among Organizations Ringing in Hanukkah

Morris Township group scheduled to be at Statehouse Tuesday.

As Jews around the world celebrate Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights, and remember the Maccabees victory over the occupying Greek armies, menorahs around the state will be lit in celebration.

The menorah, a candelabrum with nine branches used for Hanukkah, symbolizes the holiday and commemorates the rededication of the ancient Temple in Jerusalem.

On Wednesday, Morris Township's will host their 30th annual menorah lighting ceremony beginning at 3:30 p.m. at the New Jersey Statehouse on State Street in Trenton.

The evening will feature college dean Rabbi Moshe Herson along with members, staff and students from the college as well as dignitaries lighting the candelabrum for the second day of the holiday using a cherry picker.

Hanukkah refreshments will also be served following the ceremony.
