MORRISTOWN, NJ — Thousands of people rallied this weekend for Morristown’s No Kings protest against President Donald Trump and his administration.

The demonstration was held on Saturday outside of Morristown’s Town Hall from 11 a.m. until around 12:30 p.m.

According to organizers, roughly 8,000 people attended the rally, double the number of protestors during Morristown’s first No Kings demonstration in June.

Mayor Tim Dougherty spoke to the crowd, citing Morristown’s historical roots of protesting kings and authoritarianism during the American Revolution.

“Hundreds of years ago, people gathered to protest, to speak out, about what was going on in their world, just like you are,” he said. “So it starts like this, and we grow, and we grow, and we become stronger, and we become louder. It’s going to take commitment, perseverance, and speaking loudly… Don’t give up, this fight is just beginning.”

The peaceful protest featured demonstrators holding signs reading “Democracy Dies In Silence,” “ICE Melts, Resolve Hardens,” and “Down With Facism,” among many others.

Other nearby protests took place in Denville and Montville, with thousands more across the country.

No Kings is a coalition of numerous progressive and pro-democracy organizations led and coordinated by the national organizing group Indivisible.

In the first No Kings protests in June, millions of people peacefully demonstrated against what they say are authoritarian policies of President Donald Trump. The protests were held on the same day as the U.S. Army 250th Anniversary Parade on Trump’s 79th birthday.

At least 2,000 protests were held Saturday in every state in the country, with demonstrations planned in most major U.S. cities, as well as in Canada and Mexico. Protests were designed to be a peaceful day of action, according to the No Kings website.

Many Republicans have outwardly criticized the demonstrations, including the president himself, who posted an AI-generated video of him, wearing a crown, dropping what appears to be feces on the heads of protestors from a fighter jet with “King Trump” written on it.

House Speaker Mike Johnson told Fox News before the nationwide protests that although he is “a very patient guy,” he has “had it with these people.”

He called the Saturday protest a “Hate America rally” staged by “all the pro-Hamas wing and the antifa people.”

“They’re all coming out,” Johnson said.
