Washington Street Will Be Closed All Day Saturday

Road construction project will begin, weather pending, at 7 a.m.

MORRISTOWN, N.J. – Road construction season is upon us, and in Morristown, the first road closure has been announced.

On Saturday, June 18 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Washington Street will be closed for road construction, the town announced.

  • Detours for westbound traffic:
    Turn right onto Atno Avenue at the traffic light, turn left onto Early Street, left onto Mills Street, and turn right onto Washington.
  • Detours for eastbound traffic:
    Turn right onto Budd Street, left onto Miller Street, left onto Phoenix Avenue, right onto Washington Street.

Local traffic for businesses and residences will be allowed within the closed portion of Washington or be directed to their desired destination by Traffic Control Officers stationed at each end of the closure. Complete road closure will be instituted at the actual work location, however all properties will be accessible. The road will be open at the end of the day. In the event of heavy rain or scheduling conflict, the work will occur on the next viable Saturday, the town said.
