5K Wednesday Benefits Integrity House

Hundreds from Newark's corporate community lace up to raise awareness of addiction

Hundreds of runners took part in the Newark Corporate Run, a 5K held Wednesday to raise funds for Integrity House, the 45-year-old substance abuse treatment facility based in Newark and Secaucus.

Most of the runners were part of teams representing Newark-based businesses, including Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, PSE&G, Edison Properties, Prudential, IDT and others.

Runners (and walkers) started off near Washington Park, followed a loop around downtown and headed back to the park for the big finish and a concert by classic hip-hop group Sugar Hill Gang.

“We are proud to be located in a city full of generous community and business leaders who continue to support Integrity House every year,” Integrity House CEO Robert Budsock said in a statement. “The annual Newark Corporate Run allows us to raise awareness of the disease of addiction and raise funds to provide the services required to help those affected by the impact of this disease.”
