Bloomberg to Hold Booker Fundraiser

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is hosting a fundraiser for fellow Mayor Cory Booker, Politico reported Wednesday.

The fundraiser, for Booker’s U.S. Senate campaign, will be held at Bloomberg’s townhouse July 15.

Booker is one of four candidates running in a Democratic primary scheduled for Aug. 13. The special election for the Senate seat will be held in October.

The candidates, which include two Republicans, are vying to serve for the remainder of Frank Lautenberg’s term, which expires in January 2015. Lautenberg, a Democrat, died last  month.

Booker had already launched his campaign for Senate several months before Lautenberg’s death. Lautenberg, who was 90 years old, had announced he would not  seek re-election next year.
