ECC Offering Professional Certification Classes

A series of certificate courses will be offered during the Fall 2013 semester, starting in September at the main Newark campus of Essex County College.

     Certificate programs to be offered this September include:

     Principles of Real Estate Sales is a 20 session course that prepares students to take the state examination for the New Jersey Real Estate Sales License. Topics include mortgage sales agreements, deeds, title closing, license, real estate law, property interests and rights. The course will be offered Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting September 17, from 5:30 to 9:15 p.m. Tuition is $450.

    Fundamentals of Payroll Certificate Program is a 12 session course designed to prepare students for entry level jobs in the payroll profession. At the completion of the course, students will be prepared to take the National Fundamental Payroll Certification Examination administered through the American Payroll Association. The class will meet on Saturdays, starting September 21, from 9 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Tuition is $450. 

     How to Own and Operate a Child Care Center is a six session program that will serve as a practical guide for establishing and managing needed care centers. The class will meet Saturdays, starting September 21, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Tuition is $180 plus a $10 materials fee.

     Personal Fitness Trainer National Certification is an ideal course for people interested in becoming a certified personal trainer. This program is co-sponsored by the World Instructor Training Schools. Core topics include anatomy, exercise physiology, cardio-respiratory fitness, nutrition, health screening and much more. The national certification exam is administered the last day of class. The six session course will meet Saturdays, starting September 21, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. A 30-hour post course internship is required and the Heart Saver Adult CPR course is required for certification. Total cost of the class is $636.

     Lean Six Sigma is a 10 session course focusing on the fundamentals of process improvement. The class will cover basic and practical tools and templates to assist in understanding, analyzing and improving processes. The class will meet Mondays and Wednesdays, starting September 23, from 6 to 9 p.m. Cost of the course is $350.

     Project Management Professional program is designed for people pursuing careers in such fields as technology, building construction, finance, and accounting which require project managers to focus on planning, organizing, and managing projects and programs. The class will meet for 17 sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting September 24. Tuition is $545.
