Book Sale, Free Concert at Washington Park

A look at what's going on around Newark on Wednesday.

There’s a couple of fun events happening Wednesday at Washington Park downtown, at the corner of Washington and Broad.

The Newark Public library holds its weekly book sale 11 a.m. to 2:30 pm, with novels, nonfiction and other texts on offer for reasonable prices.

And while you’re there, check out the free concert from noon to 2 p.m., part of the city’s Division of Recreation and Cultural Affairs free concert series (co-sponsored by the Commons Community Development Corp). On tap Wednesday is a Tribute to Motown, featuring a DJ. Concerts are scheduled Wednesdays in the park through Aug. 28.

Although Mother Nature seems to have given us all a break from last week’s infernal heat, it’s still pretty toasty out there. Looking to cool off and get some exercise at the same time? There are plenty of public swimming pools throughout the city. For schedules and locations, click here
