Newark Man Admits to 8-Month Robbery Spree

Christopher Mojica, 23, pleaded guilty Monday to 11 robberies in Newark and Hudson County.

A Newark man pleaded guilty Monday to a series of robberies between September 2012 and April 2013 in Newark, Jersey City and Harrison.

Christopher Mojica, 23, pleaded guilty to one count of Hobbs Act conspiracy, one count of Hobbs Act robbery and one count of discharging a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence.

Mojica conspired with others to rob the following businesses:

  • New Barbershop, Newark, on Sept. 14, 2012
  • Gambling Operation, Newark, in September 2012
  • Amcare Pharmacy, Newark, on Nov. 13, 2012
  • Summer Pharmacy, Newark, on Dec. 11, 2012
  • Community Health Pharmacy, Newark, on Jan. 19, 2013
  • Delson Jewelry, Newark, on Feb. 8, 2013
  • Pharmacy Plus, Harrison, on Feb. 21, 2013
  • Forest Hill Pharmacy, Newark, on April 4, 2013
  • Montgomery Pharmacy, Jersey City, on April 15, 2013
  • Harris Pharmacy, Newark, on April 16, 2013
  • Delta Gas Station, Newark, on April 19, 2013
Mojica and his conspirators robbed each of the businesses at gunpoint, stealing cash, oxycodone pills, jewelry and other items, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.

Mojica fired a .45-caliber semi-automatic handgun when he fled the Delta Gas Station robbery on April 19, 2013, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.

Each of the Hobbs Act conspiracy and robbery charges carry a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison. The charge of discharging a firearm carries a minimum consecutive term of 10 years in prison.
