A news magazine recently listed Saint Michael’s Medical Center in Newark among the state’s best hospitals in a ranking of medical institutions across the country.

US News & World Report also gave the nearly 150-year-old Catholic hospital high marks in a number of specialized areas, including cardiology and heart surgery, neurology and neurosurgery, geriatrics and nephrology. This year’s annual ranking was announced last week.
