“We continue to receive a lot of calls from citizens frustrated by the difficulty of getting the COVID-19 vaccination. The biggest issue remains the fact that there is still not enough vaccine to go around,” said Mayor Jay Gillian in his weekly news update on Friday.

Gillian said the county plans to open additional sites when more vaccines become available. He has volunteered the Howard S. Stainton Senior Center and any other large Ocean City venue as potential sites for vaccinations.

In the meantime, Cape May County officials have encouraged residents to register to receive the vaccine through the state’s website.

Health Commissioner Judith Persichilli said the state plans to increase the number of vaccination sites beyond 300. State officials have said the goal is to vaccinate 70 percent of the adult population by the spring.

Gov. Phil Murphy announced that New Jersey has created a county-by-county vaccine hub that reports the number of immunizations across the state. (see our guide to the vaccination system below). The state's vaccine hub website now has listed a number of Rite Aid stores in towns across New Jersey and asked people to sign up here.

Persichilli also said New Jersey currently doesn't have a lot of vaccine availability, but she expects that to change soon. The Biden administration has said that it plans to greatly expand the number of vaccine doses available to the American public.
