Event organizers are encouraging spectators to come out to support participants in a 150-mile run dedicated to New Jersey military members who died serving their country.
The New Jersey Run For the Fallen will pause in Ocean City. This is a 150-mile event starting in Cape May and ending in Holmdel. Each mile of the event is dedicated to a fallen New Jersey hero. The Run Team will stop at every hero marker to pause and present an American Flag and personal biographical card in honor of every fallen service member. The intent is to create a 150-mile-long memorial trail through New Jersey.
and will participate in this event as pause locations. The run organizers request nothing except that local residents come out in support of the run at each of the brief, mile-to-mile stops.

One of these stops will be in front of the VFW post at 1501 Bay Ave. An advanced Escort Group will arrive in front of the post about noon, followed in 30 minutes by the runners.
The Hero Markers in Ocean City include Marker 35, at American Legion Post 524, Bay Ave. 3304 Ave. honoring Sgt. Alessandro “Sandrino” Plutino, age 28 of Pitman, who died August 8, 2011 in Afghanistan supporting operation Enduring Freedom. He was a member of B Company, 1st Battalion, 75 Ranger Regiment , Hunter Army Airfield, Ga. The Stop will be made at approximately 12:10 p.m. on Saturday.

Hero Marker 36, just north of 26th St. on Bay Ave., will be dedicated to Sgt. Keith T. Buzinski, age 27, of Hamilton, N.J. and Dayton Beach, FL. He died on April 7, 2011 in Operation Enduring Freedom. Keith was a member of the 2nd Battalion, 30th Infantry Regiment,4th Brigade Combat Team,10th Mountain Division, Fort Polk, LA. The Stop will be made at approximately 12:20 p.m. on Saturday.
Hero Marker 37, 1501 Bay Ave., WFW Post 6650, will be dedicated to Pvt. Anthony J. Sausto, age 22 of Somers Point. He died May 10, 2007 in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Anthony was a member of Army, 1st. Battalion, 38 th. Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Lewis, WA. The Stop time will be approximately 12:30 p.m.
