Fourth of July Fireworks and Events in Ocean City
The resort's Independence Day celebration is set for Wednesday, July 4.
Ocean City will hold its traditional Independence Day celebration on Wednesday.
The local forecast from NBC40 meteorologist Dan Skeldon calls for a surge of humidity to arrive on Wednesday — and with it a chance of scattered thunderstorms. Otherwise, the weather should be partly sunny with a high of 86 degrees and light south winds.

- Fireworks: Ocean City's  starts at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 4. The display will be fired from a barge in the ocean off the Music Pier (between Eighth and Ninth streets on the Boardwalk). Music will piped through speakers on the Boardwalk and the downtown Asbury Avenue shopping district to accompany the display. Kool 98.3 FM will simulcast the music, and it will be available through the tune-in app on smartphones.
- Bike Parades: In Ocean City, kids don't watch the Fourth of July Parade — they ARE the parade. Two bicycle parades — one at each end of the island — are scheduled for Wednesday morning (July 4). The  begins at 40th Street and Asbury Avenue at 10 a.m. with registration starting at 9 a.m. The Gardens Civic Association Bike Parade forms at 10 a.m. at the base of the Ocean City-Longport Bridge. Registration is 9 a.m.
- Kite-Flying Contest:  will sponsor a  on the beach at Ninth Street at approximately 5 p.m. on Wednesday, July 4.
