Good Samaritans Rescue Swimmer From Jersey Shore Rip Currents
The Stone Harbor Volunteer Fire Company thanked the duo for assisting in the life-saving water rescue at the beach.
STONE HARBOR, NJ - Two good samaritans who helped a Jersey Shore swimmer in distress over the weekend were credited in the life-saving water rescue, authorities said.
The Stone Harbor Volunteer Company thanked Zeke Orzech and Steve Markel in a Facebook post announcing the successful Saturday morning operation.
A citizen first told firefighters at the station that a swimmer was in distress at the 102nd Street beach at around 10:30 a.m., fire officials said.

Stone Harbor units, as well as a Stone Harbor police officer, were dispatched and entered the water where the victim was already being assisted by Orzech and Markel, fire officials said.
The victim was pulled to shore by firefighters Eric Staeger and Lou Donofrio III and was subsequently transported to Cape Regional Medical Center in Cape May Court House.

“Great job by all, especially the good Samaritans, Zeke Orzech and Steve Markel,” fire officials said.
