Heat Rules on Thursday, May Break on Friday

Cooler temperatures are expected for the weekend.

The air temperature in Ocean City had reached 92 degrees by noon Thursday, and the beach crowds were huddled in the cool sand near the tide line, trying to get a little relief from the heat.

A light land breeze seemed only to pump in a little more oven-hot air. A break may still come later Thursday afternoon, if the winds shift, as they did on Wednesday. And a line of storms that may arrive on Friday are at the front edge of cooler temperatures in store for the weekend.

Chance of precipitation on Friday is 50 percent, according to the National Weather Service.
