More Bitter Cold on Thursday but a Weekend Thaw Is Ahead

The waves, wind and weather at dawn in Ocean City. A survival guide for surfers, runners, homeowners and all those who can't wait for another summer.

We woke up Thursday morning to a dusting of snow. High temperatures are expected to reach only the freezing mark. And the northwest winds will join us in all their fury again this afternoon.

Here's where we'd add our usual complaint about the long winter. But good news is in store. If we make it through today, there's warmer weather in store. By the weekend, we'll be looking at sun and high temperatures in the mid-40s. The warming trend is expected to continue next week.

So on Thursday, bundle up and give that Boardwalk run or walk a try. The snow is very light, not slippery and may blow or melt away relatively quickly.

There are 110 days to Memorial Day and, at least temporarily, it looks like the weather is getting better.

Surf: Still nothing out there on Thursday morning and no major wave-generating storms or systems in the near-term forecast.

Boardwalk: The winds are relatively light in the early going. They should pick up out of the northwest. If you're going to try the boards, don't worry too much about the footing—it's not as bad as it looks.

Homes: No worries today.
