Piece of World Trade Center To Be Unveiled on 9/11 as Memorial Sculpture

A ceremony on Tuesday evening will include music, reflections and the unveiling.

An I-beam pulled from the rubble of the World Trade Center after the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, will be unveiled on Tuesday as part of a new memorial sculpture on the grounds of the station at Sixth Street and Asbury Avenue.

The public is invited to attend “A Day to Remember Ceremony” at 7 p.m. Sept. 11 at the fire station.

Community Art Projects and artist José Chora designed and built the memorial after Mayor Jay Gillian requested the I-beam from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
