"Beatlemania Now" comes to the at 8 p.m. July 2. For longer than the Beatles' own career, tribute bands have been impersonating them as part of "Beatlemania" shows that first premiered on Broadway in 1977.

"Beatlemania Now" is among the best — with Scot Arch (Lennon), Chris Colon (Harrison), Eric Smith (Ringo Starr) and Davey Justice (Paul McCartney) making up the latest lineup.

Their show covers the highlights of the Beatles catalog of more than 250 songs from early hits like "I Want to Hold Your Hand" to the final legendary songs like "Let It Be."

As the band moves through a progression of Beatles songs, a slide show moves through the history of the 1960s. The multimedia event provides both great music and a meaningful look back at the turbulent time.

Clark Manley, the event chairman, said the VFW hopes to replace funding for scholarships and veterans programs.

The post awarded two $1,000 scholarships last month to Ocean City High School seniors (Max Matthews and Joseph DiMarco), and the post is also working on capital improvements that include handicapped access for its restrooms.
