Amazon Fresh Supermarket Opening In Paramus This Summer

PARAMUS, NJ — An Amazon Fresh supermarket will open this summer at a former Fairway Market off Route 17 in Paramus, an Amazon spokesperson confirmed with Patch.

Two more New Jersey stores will be opening in Eatontown and Holmdel.

The Amazon spokesperson could not confirm an opening date.

There are now more than 25 Amazon Fresh supermarkets in the country. Amazon Fresh began as an online supermarket before opening its first physical stores in Woodland Hills and Irvine, California.

The supermarkets use high-tech shopping carts called Dash Carts that tally purchases. They also allow customers to pay for groceries without going through the checkout line. Amazon's voice command service, Alexa, can also answer questions like "Where do I find aspirin?"

"Amazon Fresh is a new grocery store designed from the ground up to offer a seamless grocery experience, either in-store or online. Customers shopping Amazon Fresh will find a wide assortment of national brands and high-quality produce, meat, and seafood. Plus, our culinary team offers customers a range of delicious prepared foods made fresh in store every day," the company said.
