Bergen 5K Run In Memoriam Of Cancer Victim Raises $100K For Research
The 5K was held in honor of the late Saddle River resident Susan Zabransky Hughes who died of cervical cancer in 2011.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A 5K in memoriam of a local resident who died of cancer in 2011 raised more than $100,000 for cervical cancer research.
The run and walk in honor of Susan Zabransky Hughes which was held in late April raised the funds to benefit research at Hackensack Meridian Center for Discovery and Innovation in Nutley.
Proceeds from the 12th annual run go to fund the CDI's research program for development of new diagnostic technologies for women with cervical cancer.

"Great enthusiasm despite the rain," the Borough of Saddle River said in a Facebook post.
In a video posted to Facebook, a large crowd of runners were seen braving the drizzly weather to support the cause.

"Even with the... weather it was a great turnout," said the Saddle River Fire Department, which had the "honor" of hoisting a giant American flag into the air at the start of the race.
