Bergen County Community College President Fired, Report Says

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — Bergen County Community College President B. Kaye Walter was fired Tuesday with one year remaining on her contract.
The college's Board of Trustees at a meeting voted to fire Walter and appoint former administrator and religion and philosophy professor Michael Redmond as interim president, NorthJersey.com reported.
Trustee Chairwoman Carol Otis said in the report that the board "thanks Dr. Walter for all of her service to the college." Otis said there was "no cause" regarding the decision to move on from Walter, NorthJersey.com reported.

Walter was still listed as the college's president on the institution's website Wednesday morning.

Walter had been the college's president for nearly five years, since August 2012, according to her LinkedIn profile. She had held other administrative positions at three other colleges since 1996 before taking the helm at Bergen Community.
Walter told NorthJersey.com that she was "shocked" and "surprised" to find out her contract was in danger of being terminated. She earned $225,000 annually, the report said.
