PARAMUS, NJ — A Bergen County man was arrested after he tried meeting up with who he thought was a 14-year-old girl for sex, authorities said.

Kashmir Singh, 42, was charged with luring, attempted sexual assault, and attempted endangering the welfare of a child, said Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella.

Members of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Cyber Crimes Unit started speaking with Singh online. Singh thought he was communicating with a 14-year-old juvenile, Musella said.

While communicating, Singh arranged to meet the person to "engage in sexual intercourse" on May 17 in Paramus, Musella said. Singh drove to Paramus and was taken into custody by authorities.

Singh was remanded to the Bergen County Jail following a court appearance.
