Bergen Republicans Vie To Unseat Tedesco, Commissioners: Election 2022

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — Two challengers are looking to unseat Bergen County Executive James Tedesco III, according to the county board of elections.

Six Republicans have also submitted paperwork to take one of the Board of County Commissioners seats currently occupied by a Democrat, Bergen BOE records show.

Republicans Todd Calguire of Midland Park and Linda T. Barba of Fort Lee have filed to run against Tedesco, a Democrat.

Tedesco, who lives in Paramus, is in his second four-year term as executive.

Republican voters will select between Barba and Calguire in the June primary.

On the board of commissioners, three seats are open. Three Democratic incumbents, Thomas J. Sullivan of Montvale, Germaine M. Ortiz of Emerson, and Mary Amoroso of Mahwah, are running. The Republican candidates are as follows:

The 2022 primary election takes place on Tuesday, June 7 in New Jersey. The winners will earn their party's nomination for the general election, which takes place on Tuesday, Nov. 8, and will also include independent candidates.

Voters have until May 17 to register for the primary election.
