Board of Health Promotes American Cancer Society 'Smokeout'

The American Cancer Society announced that Nov. 21 will be "The Great American Smokeout" and the Paramus Board of Health is supportive.

The American Cancer Society (ACS) announced Thursday, Nov. 21 as the date for the “Great American Smokeout”. The goal on the Smokeout Day is to get smokers to quit for one whole day, or at least try to cut down their smoking substantially.

Tobacco use is the single largest preventable cause of disease and premature death in the United States, yet about 43.8 million Americans still smoke cigarettes - nearly 1 in every 5 adults.

The Paramus Board of Health supports the ACS efforts and strongly urges all to join the Great American Smokeout and commit to keeping our society and our children healthy.
