Paramus High School Teacher to be on TV
History teacher David Allocco will soon be featured on local television in a segment focusing on a video game he created to help teach students about the American Revolution.

The Paramus school community can expect to see some familiar faces on the television soon.
Paramus High School history teacher David Allocco will soon be featured on NJTV Classroom Closeup a show which spotlights unique lessons and innovative teachers. The show will feature Allocco demonstrating a video game he created to teach 10th grade students about the American Revolution.
Allocco first played the game with students who were in his 10th grade class last year. Some of those students will be featured with him in the television segment along with some of the school administrators, he says.

In Allocco's game, "Choosing Sides: The American Revolution in Bergen County," students play the role of John Van Dunk, a Hackensack resident living at the start of the American Revolutionary War.
The exercise is to help the students see what makes people choose sides. They do this by interacting with characters in the game to find out if their character will side with the British or support the upstart of America.

Allocco is now currently working on another video game based on the French Revolution for 9th grade history which he hopes to complete this year and then implement next school year.
Filming of his classroom is planned for Friday and the segment will likely air at the end of December, says Allocco.
